Originally Richard came from the non league game with his local club Sheffield F.C, he then made the step up to the professional game in 1993 when he signed for Hull City, he played 174 games for the Tigers scoring 21 goals

DEBUT MATCH 

Fulham 1993 1-1. Scored the equaliser.


FAVOURITE MATCH YOU PLAYED IN 

Huddersfield at Boothferry Park, Boxing Day 1994. Won 1-0 in front of a packed ground, managed to score a late winner!


WORST MATCH PLAYED IN 

Quite a few! 1-5 v Crewe in the cup was pretty bad! Doncaster away 0-1 in the Hateley era is up there too!


FAVOURITE GROUND 

Boothferry Park, pitch was immaculate, Villa Park, St James Park too in a couple of cup games.

Belle Vue (Doncaster)


BEST PLAYER YOU PLAYED WITH 

Dean Windass


BEST PLAYER YOU PLAYED AGAINST 

Juninho the Brazilian in a testimonial against Middlesbrough for Lincoln, he scored a first half hat trick.


BEST GOAL YOU SCORED 

A 30 yarder v Carlisle 1995 or the one against Huddersfield (Boxing Day)


BEST GOAL SCORED AGAINST YOU 

Danny Murphy for Crewe into the top corner which nearly broke the net!

Terry Dolan.

I’d have to say the above’s assistant!!


FUNNIEST INCIDENT YOU SAW ON A

FOOTBALL PITCH 

Neil Mann chasing a dog around which had got on to the pitch at Boothferry Park!


FUNNIEST INCIDENT YOU SAW ON THE TRAINING GROUND 

Not at the time, but having loads of rocks thrown at us from over the railway line on the back pitch at Boothferry Park from a not so pleasant group of lads!! 


ANY STRANGE REQUESTS FROM FANS 

Not really.


ANY SUPERSTITIONS AS A PLAYER 

Not particularly but always wore two pairs of socks.


FIRST CAR YOU BOUGHT 

Ford Escort.


FAVOURITE FOOD AS A PLAYER AND HAS IT CHANGED SINCE YOU RETIRED 

Good old fish and chips, still the same!!

No not at all!


CLOSEST FRIENDS IN FOOTBALL 

Prob Neil Mann as we started at the same time but he’s in Australia now. Still in touch with a few of the other lads, Adam Lowthorpe, Scott Maxfield and others on Facebook!


CAREER AFTER FOOTBALL 

Tried a few things but eventually learnt plastering and currently run my own business.
