DSA Meeting

Minutes of Hull City DSA Committee Meeting 16/10/2024 ( Via Teams)

Present : David Batte, Peter Tarbitten, Daniel Little, Michael Johnston

Apologies – Angela Sykes, Matthew Clarkson

1.        The Chairman thanked everyone for attending.

2.        PT provided feedback from a DSA event he had attended virtually hosted by Swansea DSA. PT found it a valuable experience. Swansea have over 200 members in their DSA something for us to aspire to. Other DSA’s remarked on their relationships with equivalent organisations to the Tigers Trust and it was resolved to strengthen our relationship with the Hull City Tigers Trust. DB has written to Richard Dexter and subsequently liaised with Rob Johnson. Future DSA events will be opened up to the entire Hull City DSA committee.  PT mentioned UEFA guidelines for fans with disabilities which are soon to be presented to the FA. PT advised discussion with the club in due course.

3.        Member communications were discussed in detail. Reaching out to younger fans with disabilities was discussed and MJ provided feedback on communication aids and Social Media outlets. The Facebook group reaches a large number of fans although an older range  Internal message systems were introduced and a discussion took place on possible use of the app Discord.

4.        DL suggested a review date for the DSA website for March 2025 which was agreed by all.

5.        Fundraising/Sponsorship – The Committee explored options for raising funds in relation to the Sammy & Suzie book and for general funds moving forward. It was acknowledged that some local companies had shown an interest in sponsoring the DSA and it was agreed to pursue National Lottery funding for the book. The desire to provide local schools with a free copy of the book will require significant funds but securing  funding from the Local Authorities may be possible.

6.        PT agreed to take on the role of Treasurer. The DSA currently has a small amount of funds but with the application to Santander for a Treasurers bank account it was agreed a Treasurer was needed.

7.        DL reported contact from the Blackburn Independent Supporters Group and that he had provided assistance with their desire to be recognised as a supporter group.

8.        Committee Roles will carry over to the next Committee Meeting date to be agreed.
