How Fans Can Get Involved

We care getting closer to the Unite for Access Campaign (1st March to the 16th March) where we will be focusing on raising awareness and driving equality for a more inclusive matchday experience for disabled sports fans. We’re sure that a lot of people will be asking ‘How do I get involved?’ so here are a few pointers and suggestions.

1. Spread Awareness on Social Media

  • Use #hcafcdsa and #UniteForAccess in your posts to amplify the campaign’s reach.

  • Share personal experiences or stories about accessibility in football.

  • Repost content from Level Playing Field, the Hull City DSA and participating football clubs.

2. Engage with Your Club

  • Check if your football club is supporting the campaign and encourage them to participate.

  • Reach out to the Hull City DSA to see how you can help.

  • Attend events or awareness activities hosted by your club.

3. Attend a Match and Promote Inclusion

  • Come to the home game against Oxford United (Tuesday March 4th), as this is the fixture that the club has dedicated to Unite for Access and show your support.

  • If you see accessibility barriers at a stadium, report them to the Hull City DSA.

  • Offer assistance to fellow fans who may need support.

4. Advocate for Better Accessibility

  • Talk to the Hull City DSA about accessibility improvements.

  • Write to your club or league officials asking them to improve disabled fan experiences.

  • Sign petitions or support initiatives pushing for better stadium accessibility.

5. Donate or Fundraise

  • Support Hull City DSA by donating to their accessibility initiatives.

  • Organize a fundraising event, such as a match-day raffle or a sponsored walk.

6. Participate in Online Discussions

  • Join live Q&A sessions and discussions about accessibility in football.

  • Share your thoughts and experiences using campaign hashtags.

7. Encourage Inclusive Behaviour

  • Promote respect and awareness among fellow fans.

  • Challenge discrimination or exclusionary behaviour at football grounds.

  • Educate yourself and others on accessibility rights and best practices.

If you’re still not sure, then contact us over social media (see below) or drop us an email to enquiries.hullcitydsa@hotmail.com and we can have a chat.
